Community Voices: Kern County’s entrepreneurs found new opportunities through regional investment

The talent was always here. What entrepreneurs needed was greater access to the resources, connections and support that help small businesses thrive. Across our region, residents are turning years of experience into businesses that serve their neighbors and strengthen the local economy. But talent and determination alone do not create a sustainable business. Entrepreneurs also need clear pathways to planning, financing, workforce support, marketing and growth.

Investment from California Jobs First through the Kern Coalition is helping close that gap. The Rural Small Business Resources and Access to Capital Tour is a catalyst project that brings chambers, cities, financing organizations and government partners together with local entrepreneurs. Through the tour, the MCSC Kern Women’s Business Center delivers no-cost consulting, workforce resources, procurement guidance and financing connections directly into Kern County communities.
